Cinnamon (dalchini / दालचीनी) is the dried inner bark of Cinnamomum Verum. The best Cinnamon plants are grown in high ranges of Kerala. Very commonly used in Indian dishes and has a delicate fragrance, warming, sweet & exotic taste. It’s been a part of the Ayurvedic system of medicine for thousands of years and used extensively for its therapeutic value. Cinnamaldehyde has antifungal and antibacterial properties, which may reduce infections, help fight tooth decay and bad breath. It contains large amounts of highly potent polyphenol antioxidants. The antioxidants in cinnamon have anti-inflammatory effects, which may help lower your risk of disease. Cinnamon has been shown to reduce fasting blood sugar levels, having a potent anti-diabetic effect at 1–6 grams or 0.5–2 teaspoons per day. It may improve some key risk factors for heart disease, including cholesterol, triglycerides and blood pressure.
